I am a parent with tattoos, among many.
When I am without my children which is rarely. I feel as though I get many compliments on my tattoos and they are perceived as “young, wild and free”.
Although, when I am with my children I feel a sense of it being unacceptable. What I mean by this is, those PTA meetings feel like it’s all eyes on me when I walk in the door and not in a good way.
My question this week is whether or not other tattooed parents have the same occurrences?
I’ve thought about this a lot and I wonder whether there’s certain factors that could increase or decrease the “acceptance” of tattooed parents, such as:
1. Where you live. Are certain places more accepting of tattoos in general?
2. Social Status. Obviously, rich people have tattoos too but does social status place a role in any way?
3. Upbringing. Are some people’s upbringing a reason for tattoos loving vs shaming?
4. Religion. Does religion play a huge role in whether or not tattoos are ok. Not just on parents but on anyone?
Thanks for reading! Making sure to leave a comment below. I am very curious about others opinions and experiences.
