Choosing Real Happiness or Staying Content?

An internal battle I always find myself having is whether or not I should choose real happiness or staying content. For example, currently I’m deciding whether or not to stay at home with my young son or continue working part-time. Financially, I would be able to stay home, but my “spending” money would be cut dramatically. I’m currently content, I wouldn’t say I like my job, but I don’t hate it either. I am able to be a bit luxurious with the extra money I bring in a month, but I think I would be happier at home. I believe I would be able to bond with my son even more, have him disciplined more (he’s a wild child), and provide a better education. As mentioned, I’ve been fighting with myself internally about this for quite awhile, so I would like to see the viewers thoughts and opinions.
